{"id":166,"date":"2010-04-08T14:34:12","date_gmt":"2010-04-08T21:34:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imaginarybillboards.com\/?p=166"},"modified":"2018-03-23T08:51:55","modified_gmt":"2018-03-23T15:51:55","slug":"why-im-disabling-javascript-by-default","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.imaginarybillboards.com\/?p=166","title":{"rendered":"Why I&#8217;m disabling javascript by default"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Opera is my friend. \u00c2\u00a0Preferences, Advanced, Content. \u00c2\u00a0Disable javascript. \u00c2\u00a0Suddenly the web is fast again. \u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;m on a DS3, the internet should be super fast. \u00c2\u00a0But sites have so much junk on them now that has to load before the content that it takes multiple seconds for things to come up when it should be near instant. \u00c2\u00a0Articles on <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/www.slate.com');\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\">slate.com<\/a>  now load in less than a second rather than 7-10 seconds. \u00c2\u00a0The <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/consumerist.com');\"  href=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\">consumerist<\/a> loads in 1-2 rather than between 10 seconds and never. \u00c2\u00a0<a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/www.gpf-comics.com\/');\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.gpf-comics.com\/\">GPF<\/a> can&#8217;t break free of it&#8217;s frame anymore. \u00c2\u00a0They all now load quickly, and all the content is exactly the same. \u00c2\u00a0I don&#8217;t have a problem with sites running things!
